Bio

Dr. Marcy Cole, L.C.S.W,  Ph.D received her B.S. in Communication Studies, majoring in Radio/Television and Film from Northwestern University.  She earned a Masters degree in Clinical Social Work at Loyola University in Chicago, and a Doctorate in Philosophy from the Institute of Clinical Social Work in Chicago.

During her early years in the field, Dr. Cole worked in both in-patient and out patient settings with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families.   After completing her Masters degree, she worked with the chronically mentally ill population in the General AfterCare Program, at The Counseling Center of Lakeview in Chicago.

Dr. Cole’s published doctoral dissertation, a qualitative study on “The Experiences of Never Married Women from the ages 29-39 who desire marriage and children,” was published in 1999.
She is a best-selling co-author of: Living Proof: Celebrating the Gifts that Came Wrapped in Sandpaper, and Get Your Woman On…Embracing Beauty, Grace and the Power of Woman.

For the last 15 years, she’s developed an extensive private practice, working with insight-oriented adults and couples interested in improving the quality of their lives.    Her orientation is integrative –  merging traditional and holistic modalities of treatment.   Dr. Cole views the treatment process as one which embodies the creation of a safe space for personal reflection, re-evaluation, healing, transformation, and manifestation.    The goal is to assist each individual to come to know and value themselves, releasing that which does not serve them and focusing on that which promotes a healthy sense of mind/body/spirit vitality and well being.

Services include Adult and Couples Psychotherapy,  Group/Corporate Consultation, Writing, Workshops and Speaking Engagements. Dr. Cole’s offices are located at the Wheel of Wellbeing in Westwood (www.WheelofWellbeing.com) California.  She also offers walking sessions on the beach in Marina del Rey, and is available for phone consultation.

Marcy is also the Founder and Executive Director of First Tuesday LA, an organization dedicated to creating a sense of community with extraordinary women, through social connectivity, professional networking and social service.   She founded the non-profit arm to this womens’ group called First Tuesday Circle of Giving, which was active from 2006-2010.

In the Fall of 2011 Marcy created an online platform for women without children: www.ChildlessMothersConnect.com.  During this same period she founded and became Executive Director of a Non-Profit called, “CMomA” (Childless Mothers Adopt) offering support to Childless Single women and couples who seek to adopt children in need.  For more information visit:  www.CMomA.org
